Abstract

The powder particle size, D, influences the creep behaviour of Al-Cr-Zr alloys. The alloy studied in this work, Al-5Cr-2Zr (mass %), was prepared by argon atomization. Three size fractions of powder particles were selected: 25-50 μm, 50-100 μm and 100-200 μm in diameter. They were Consolidated by extrusion. Independently of D, the flow behaviour of the alloy can be described by the power law equation. As test temperature increases, the stress exponent n decreases up to a value close to 5. A decrease of D causes an increase of n and delays the alloy degradation at high temperature.
