This waste oil, together with propane, is used as a fuel for the ignition in a sintering pilot plant. Tinnol and propane are simultaneously injected through separate feed Unes and the combustion process is monitored by analysis of the levels of O2, CO and unburnt particles in the gases produced during the first three minutes of sintering. The combustion of tinnol is considered to be effective and its energy contribution to the process is demonstrated by a reduction in the consumption of propane as the rate at which tinnol is injected increases.
