Abstract

It has been measured the ratio between the refrigerant flow and the casting speed and the appropriate range of this ratio to avoid the advance or delay of the solidification front has been determined. By means of a variable flow of N2 at the exit zone of the copper tubes the improvement of heat transmission in the mould and of the internal surface quality of the cast tubes was achieved.
