The mechanical properties of the alloy Mg-14 %Ti-l % Al-0.9 % Mn obtained by PVD techniques have been evaluated up to 300 °C. The alloy presents a columnar grain microstructure , typical of the zone 2 of the structure zone model of MD, where surface diffusion takes place. The alloy tested in compression at room temperature presented a high yield stress, 360 MPa. This resistance to the plastic deformation is principally due to a solid solution hardening and small grain size. The yield stress decrease with the compression temperature. However, the alloy showed low fracture resistance, especially at room temperature. The presence of pores at the grain boundaries, results in the crack formation, running fast along the grain boundary.
